KNIGHT OF THE SUN by Sailor Dove
Chapter One: The Raven, the Dove and the Rose

The Setting:  Between SMR & SMS, (the Doom Tree Series & Rini’s Debut)

"Who is this guy?", Mars asked.  Astonished, Mercury replied, "I can't get a reading on him at all!"  Jupiter added, "Well, none of our powers are working, what'll we do now?"  The evil man laughed maliciously and shouted, "BLACK BLAST".  A dark strong wind sent the Scouts and Tuxedo Mask tumbling backwards.  Upon landing at the back of the Temple, all groaned in pain.

Sailor Moon spoke commandingly, "There's only one hope, we have to do it together!"  As the Scouts united, they called their eternal powers.

                "MERCURY POWER!"

                "VENUS POWER!"

                "MARS POWER!"

                "JUPITER POWER!"

                "MOON CRYSTAL POWER!".

        The evil man only cackled as the room filled with their combined might.  "Is that the best you can do?", he asked with a cruel smile.  With a snap of his fingers, their powers dissappated and the room grew colder.  "Ha ha ha ha, that's child's play.  Now I'll show you real power!" Tuxedo Mask leapt in front of the scouts to protect them.  "If only I can distract him long enough for the Scouts to get away." thought Tuxedo Mask.  Spinning his cane, he ran forward in attack mode.

Mars and Jupiter (picking up on the cue) grabbed Sailor Moon's arms to run her to safety.  Mercury and Venus catching their signal, ran to the temple doors.  Sailor Moon whispered in despair, "Tuxedo Mask", as her friends pulled her along.  The temple doors wouldn't budge.

They frantically looked around finding all the doors and windows were frozened over as well.  They were trapped.  The man crossed his arms as Tuxedo ran into his electrical force field.  "Ahhhh!", Tuxedo Mask screamed in pain.  "NOooo!" cried Sailor Moon as she watched in horror as Tuxedo flew backwards though the air.

With no way out, the Scouts released Sailor Moon.  With tears in their eyes, they watch Sailor Moon run to her love.  He cackled with delight at his apparent victory.  As he did a wind up for the final attack, the scouts ran between him and the royal couple.  Standing ready to receive the deadly blow, knowing only a miracle could save them now

 

        The Temple doors burst open as a yellow rose flew towards the enemy dressed in black.  It landed at his feet, stopping his deadly attack , he snarled, "Sailor Dove!".  A voice spoke in a light irish accent  (a little out of breath), "Raven... That's ... Enough!".

The worn out, yet thankful Scouts & Tuxedo Mask turned to see who just saved them.  Standing in the doorway was a lady wearing a Sailor Scout uniform of yellow and green, her auburn hair was up in a bun, kept in place by a green ribbon.  The white mask and her cape lined in yellow was similar to Tuxedo Mask's.

As she walked into the room, a warm breeze brighten the room & lit the candles by the alter.  Raven wickedly smiled, "You're late. Did you enjoy the surprises I left for you?".  "I found them a little cliche, couldn't you come up with something a little more... original?" the lady wryly answered.

Raven replied, "Perhaps so, but I see they were quite effective.  We still have some unfinished business to attend to."  Pointing her thumb over her shoulder behind her, she wearily replied, "Outside." With an evil grin, Raven snatched something laying on the floor.  The lady responded, "Raven give that back, that's not the-!"  With that he disappeared in a blaze of black smoke.

Sailor Dove quickly turned to check on them,  "Are you ladies" seeing the injured Tuxedo Mask, "and you sir, all right?"  Sailor Mercury and Jupiter were the first to speak, "Yes, Thank you but-".  Tuxedo Mask nodded "yes", though everyone could tell he was still in pain.  While Sailor Venus added, "who are you?"  Then Mars and Sailor Moon finished, "and where did you come from?"

Unsure how to begin Sailor Dove started to answer, "I am -".  Just then a loud "CRASH" came from outside. She returned her gaze back to the scouts, from the direction of the blast and asked wearily, "Do you ever just have one of those days?"   Tiredly they chuckled and nodded "yes".  Smiling, she saluted them, then to walked outside.

Suddenly she spun around calling "SPECTRA SHIELD!".  Her hands formed the shape of a bird, shooting a rainbowish beam sealing the door.  The gang called out to her, "Wait, Stop, No Don't." Ignoring their pleas, she ran into the night.

 

        She arrived in a small yet, recently burnt clearing where Raven was calling "NIGHT ROD!".  A dark, crooked rod formed in his hands.  She called her own weapon, "LIGHT STAFF!".  A yellow beam of light appeared in her right hand and crystallized into a pearl staff.  The battle began.

 

        "Why did she do that? I thought she was a friend.", whined Sailor Moon.  Mercury shook her head and insightfully replied, "She's trying to protect us, but she's wounded, I don't think she can fight him alone and...".  The others realized what she was saying and silently added, "and survive." Jupiter hopefully asked, "How did you know she's wounded, Mercury?".  Mercury answered,  "From where I was standing, I could see her holding her side, she was bleeding."

"oh.", quietly replied the others.  Venus pointed up, "She forgot to shield that window!"  Tuxedo flew up in a flash.  Landing on the window, he called down, "Sailor Scouts, don't lose hope! I'll be back."  They nodded to his encouraging words.  Sailor Moon whispered, "Be careful."  Tuxedo Mask nodded as if he heard her, then jumped out the window.

 

        "Who is she and why did she seem so familiar? When or where they met was a mystery to him. As so much of his past was."  It suddenly dawned on him that the pain from Raven's attack was gone.  He was now close enough to see the clearing where they now battled.  She was losing.  Raven yelled something & a smoke cloud shot towards Sailor Dove and engulfed her.  

Tuxedo finally reached striking distance.  "If her rose worked, maybe mine will too.", he reasoned as he threw his rose towards the black beast.   As the deadly smoke disappeared, Dove fell to the ground.  Tuxedo anxiously wondered, "Is she dead?" The rose struck it's target, Raven's shoulder, who screeched in pain.

Tuxedo not wasting this moment, darted for her.  Picked her up and raced away from the scene.  Tuxedo noted, "Good, Unconscious, but still breathing."  He flew up to hide in the tree nearby.  Raven recovering from his wound, was too weak to follow but shouted vengefully, "You have no idea who you're dealing with, Cape boy.  Next time, you won't be so lucky!" With that he disappeared in a blaze of thick smoke.  

Tuxedo Mask jumped down and started back towards the temple.  As he carried the strange lady he looked at her mask and wondered, "Sailor Dove, who are you?".

 

        Sailor Moon and the scouts ran towards him shouting something.  Suddenly he understood Sailor Moon's panicked words, "The Moon Scepter! Raven's got the Moon Scepter!"

Tuxedo Mask upon seeing Sailor Mercury with a First Aid kit from the Temple, gently laid Sailor Dove down.  Mercury and Jupiter began to minister to her wounds.  "Tuxedo Mask what are we going to do?", wept Sailor Moon as she ran into his arms.

Regretfully he responded as he held her, "I'm sorry, I didn't know."  Sailor Dove smiled gently, "Now there M'lady, you wouldn't be speakin' of this here thing?"  From within her cape she drew out the scepter.  All were amazed and speechless.

Venus leaned down and helped her stand up.  Nodding to Venus that she was fine, Sailor Dove walked alone to Sailor Moon.  Handing Sailor Moon the wand as she bowed.  The look on her face was all the thanks Dove needed.

She, now feeling the full effect of her new & old wounds, Dove couldn't hide the pain any longer.  Mercury said, "Please, you need-".  Now surrounded by the concerned Scouts, she stepped back into the middle of the circle.  Jupiter & Mercury tried to reach out to support her.

But, Dove only bowed her head & crossed her arms while whispering, "PRISM POWER!"  Flying upwards, she disappeared in a halo of light.  Venus remembering her questions called, "Please wait!".  Dove's voice gently replied, "'til next time and thank you..."

 

        For a long time they just stood gazing upward.  Sailor Venus broke the silence first, "Its strange, I feel as though we've met each other before."  Tuxedo Mask only nodded as they all continued to gaze upward.  Only Sailor Mars walked forward and knelt down.  Picked up something, then turned to the others to show them what she had found.  For in her hands she held a yellow rose.
